Our Easter lunch had to be changed during the week after Jere called to say they and Austin and Jana had a flu (fever/cold) in both of their houses. It didn’t take Deb long to call to see what we could do because she didn’t want to not have an Easter lunch.
So, we organized a small Easter lunch at our place. It’s been a long time since we had an Easter meal in our kitchen. I even got out our good (wedding gift) crystal.
Jere and Kristen had already purchased a ham that was large enough for twenty people, so offered us some (after it was smoked)! He brought it on Saturday evening – ready to be heated on Sunday morning – in a 9 x 12 crockpot.
Can you find the difference in these two pictures? Top and bottom.
If you said that Deb and I exchanged seats while taking pictures, you were correct.
The meal: ham from Jere’s, refrigerator mashed potatoes from Roy and Deb and sweet potato casserole, layered salad and rolls from us. People: Barb (Roy’s mom), Deb, Cerwin, Jeff and Roy.
Roy and Deb brought dessert: lemon cake baked by Cake and Cup Bake Shoppe and a coconut cream and pecan pie baked by her Amish friend (who makes the best pies).
Deb also brought peanut butter and coconut eggs made by our niece Amy.
Though we missed seeing Jere and Kristen’s family, we had a great time. Living life to the fullest means you can make adjustments and go with the flow.
It all looks delicious! Glad you were able to enjoy being with some of your family. 🙂
The food was delicious and the conversation was delightful.
It was a smaller group than you usually have at your house, but how nice to have a more intimate Easter luncheon! The food looks delicious — the desserts outstanding, and it’s a long time since I’ve seen peanut butter and chocolate Easter eggs!
We get a few chocolate-covered Easter eggs every year. I like the coconut and Cerwin likes the peanut butter.
