The brilliant sky hid the fact that light rain or snow was predicted within minutes.
I reminded Cerwin that a red sky in the morning is a sailor’s warning.
When I came back from taking these pictures – through a guestroom window, Cerwin said, “Did you see the rainbow in the west?”
I had to go to a kitchen window to see that.
I walked to the end of the driveway (in my housecoat) to capture this shot. It looks like the rainbow ends just above our trashcan. Maybe we should have checked for a pot of gold before the garbage man came. 🙂
I expect this means it was raining somewhere between the sunrise and the rainbow.
The sunrise was already fading when I came inside from taking the rainbow photos. We had a cloudy morning with only a few drops of rain as we traveled to the funeral of a friend.

We have attended three funerals of TFC friends in the past eight days. First was Glenn Gautsch on Monday, January 9. Then on Saturday evening, January 14, we went to the celebration of life for Carol Henson who worked at the TFC Global Office in Marietta, PA. It was just a year ago (when I retired from TFC Global) that I took all my bulk mailing equipment and software to the International Office and trained her in my job. Since that she fought a valiant battle with cancer until her death on January 10. Today we went to the funeral service for Arlene Sauder. She and her husband Earl have been good friends since the late ’60s.
What a special gift – amazing sunrise on one side, amazing rainbow on the other! Beautiful!
It felt like a gift.
So sorry to hear of Arlene Sauder passing away. I remember going to her place and seeing black sheep! Had she been sick for awhile?
She has been having heart and other health issues for the past few years. Then, a week before she died she had a stroke. She did not have the typical paralysis, but could not talk. Her one daughter told me that though she couldn’t respond, she always knew them. They could tell by her eyes that she knew them. This is the last photo I have of them https://dorishigh.com/2022/07/05/supper-at-yoders-with-earl-and-arlene/
