It had been a few months since I updated you on what I was working on in my counted cross stitch projects.
Last fall I told you that all I had left to do on the raccoon was the background. Backgrounds are nice to do in the evening, but a solid background can also be a bit boring. (If you think it doesn’t look like a solid background, it’s because I used the same color thread, but they were from different color lots, creating a rather interesting pattern.)
The actual photo
When I thought I needed a new challenge, while still working on the raccoon’s background, I started working on the photo of a deer that Deb gave me. Notice the actual photo on the bottom right.
Someone always asks me how I get a photo transferred to a stitched project. I send the photo to a company who transfers it to a pattern that I use for stitching. I also chose a solid background for this one over stitching the actual background.
I finished the raccoon at the end of the year and took it to be framed today.
Beautiful! You do an amazing job with these projects. I remember when you started working on this one. I know this was one of Deb’s “special” babies – wish I could recall his name.
Yes. He is Bear.
Lovely!
Thanks.
These are wonderful, Doris — you do great work, and I can relate to your working on them in the evenings!
Thanks. I think Diane was about 16 when she took me to an in house craft party. There were several things we could choose to do. I was looking for a craft that was “me.” Most caused too much of a mess for me. Counted cross stitch was just right – and I have been doing it every since. That was about 41 years ago as she just turned 57.
