We had an ice-cream-purchase-project for church, so we combined it by using a gift card for lunch at Fox Meadows Creamery.
These photos were all taken with Cerwin’s cell phone. I didn’t have my good camera along and his cellphone takes better pictures than mine.
It was a cold day, so we chose a table near the fireplace while waiting for our meal.
As I was admiring the pretty tree, a little boy and his mom sat next to the tree. The mom sat in the chair you see in this picture. I didn’t take a picture but was captivated by the little boy as he looked at the tree and carefully (at his mother’s warning) touched some of the ornaments. The joy in his eyes reminded me of how much I enjoy watching children at Christmas.
Shortly after that, two small children (who were with a parent) stood at the ice cream display window at the counter. Soon their noses and hands were pressed against the display case as they looked at the ice cream.
Adults just don’t have that same gleam in their eyes when they look at Christmas trees or when they choose ice cream. Oh, to have the young eyes of children at Christmastime and the joy of choosing something as simple as ice cream.
Then again, I kind of like having old eyes and the ability to treasure these moments and savor delicious food.
Before long, our meal came – delivered by our sweet Yeira (Jared’s girlfriend).
My half panini ham and cranberry sandwich.
Before leaving we purchased containers of ice cream for our Christmas lunch at church – Vanilla, Foraged Pine + Rosemary, Chocolate-covered Strawberry and Chocolate Peanut Butter Bliss.
I’ll tell you about our Christmas day lunch at church later this week.
