Wednesday Lunch, October 19
~~~
It was time for Bunny and Peg to choose the restaurant for our quarterly lunch. They chose Country Meadows in Elizabethtown, PA.
I didn’t remember to take pictures inside the restaurant, but this was okay too.
Peg, Bunny, Inge, Cerwin and Sam
It was fun to catch up on each other’s lives.
Since our last lunch in July, Sam has moved from the house where he has lived for MANY years to his daughter Debbie and her husband Lanny’s house in Leola. Bunny and Peg visited family in Massachusetts, and he shared interesting stories about the ministry for which he has a passion – sharing encouragement and Christ with drivers at several local trucking companies. Inge keeps busy walking for exercise and editing for a variety of friends who write magazines and newsletters.
I “stole” this photo from Inge so you could see that I was there too. 🙂
Sam did not tell us that his sweet dog – Susie – died that morning. He didn’t think he could get through telling us because the pain was too raw. This is one of my favorite pictures of them. I took it at a Truck Rally several years ago. Her death was not a surprise to Sam or to us because she had been declining in past months.
Oh, Susie, we will miss you too. 🙁
I will always remember the first time you and Sam visited our house after Alice (Sam’s wife) died. You went directly to the guest bedroom where you, Sam and Alice slept when staying at our house. We think you may have been checking if she could be there.
What a sweet memory! She really was the nicest dog – always friendly and ready to give you a tail-wag or sniff your hand in friendship.
I agree. My last memory happened at Sam’s house earlier this year. I was sitting in Sam’s chair when she came to sit at my feet and kind of made wining sounds. Sam said she wants me to move over so she can sit next to me. I did and helped her up. 🙂
