I say this so often. If we didn’t take children and grandchildren out for their birthdays, we would miss out on so many culinary delights. I doubt that Cerwin and I would have chosen Maiz if we had gone out alone, but this was so much fun.
This was Elizabeth’s restaurant choice for lunch. She is the oldest of our 16 grandchildren. Her birthday was in July, but this was the first opportunity we had to celebrate her special day.
Our food choices
We shared two Bunelos (fried corn fritters) filled with cheese as our appetizer. Photo on bottom (center/right)
This came with our Arepas. We made sure each person chose a different sauce, so we could sample a variety of tastes.
Our Arepa choices. I don’t remember who each belonged to.
This was my choice – Fried yucca stuffed with cheese.
Elizabeth chose to go to Fielder’s Choice (not far away) for an ice cream dessert. It was a nice afternoon to be outside at one of their picnic tables.
Oh, that was delicious fun.
That evening we (Mark, Diane, Hannah, Cerwin and I) went to Elizabeth’s place for supper.
What an interesting menu — and how different than anything we have here (I don’t remember ever seeing a Colombian restaurant).
I am not aware of any in our area either, but I can probably find one if I do a Google search.
That food looks delicious!
Everyone enjoyed their arepa.
