We weren’t sure how our scenic drive would go – between Lebanon, New Hampshire, and Mount Washington, New Hampshire, when our day started like this.
I took these pictures about 9 am.
By 9:30 things looked more encouraging as the clouds and rain gave way to sunshine.
By 10 am we were beginning to see brilliant colors.
Before long the hills were alive with color.
We never saw leaves that were so brilliant and continuous with every turn.
As we approached the Mount Washington area, I told Cerwin that this beauty is almost more than my eyes can take in. These pictures are nothing like seeing the real thing.
This beauty made me think about one of my favorite poems.
The Extravagance of God
More sky than man can see,
More seas than he can sail,
More sun than he can bear to watch,
More stars than he can scale.
More breath than he can breathe,
More yield than he can sow,
More grace than he can comprehend,
More love than he can know.

Beautiful scenery. We have never been to that part of the US, so enjoyed your pictures. Thank you!!
It was amazing.
Photos seldom do justice to what the eye beholds – but you sure made these come alive!
It was so much fun taking these pictures.
Beautiful breathtaking scenery!
It was amazing.
Oh, my good ness how beautiful, how colorful — how many adjectives can I add?!!! When I went east to college, my dad told me I’d love the fall colors — it must have been an early autumn, as all I could see was what looked to me like dead trees. This must be what he was talking about!
Yes, this was probably what he meant. π
Beautiful. The colors here are the best I’ve ever seen them. I like the poem.
We have never seen anything like it.
Just gorgeous! I’ve never been to New England so thanks for giving a glimpse of the beauty.
You are welcome. π We get to Maine more than the other states because our daughter, her husband and two of their daughters live there. Thise time we purposed to go to NH and VT.
