It was sometime in the mid-afternoon that our doorbell rang – and there to our surprise was Tom Kemp from Washington State.

While we were enjoying a great visit, I thought that it would be nice to invite him to stay for supper, but I was planning leftovers, so asked if we could take him to Lititz Family Cupboard. He seemed delighted to go there. He and Janis used to live in Lititz.

Tom served as a TFC chaplain when Cerwin was Northeast Region director. He and Janis later moved to Seattle to serve on the chapel in that area. He retired about four years ago and was in our area to go on a several-day hike with friends. Janis did not come east for this trip.

It was interesting to catch up on his life.

We separated in the parking lot when he went back to his host family and we drove home toward a beautiful sunset.

A beautiful close to a delightful day.
