Heifer Auction

Maybe it’s because I grew up on a dairy farm, but I enjoy seeing heifers and cows – especially the black and white Holsteins.

Waiting for the auction to start

This one has very little white on it.

I wanted to get a better picture of this spotted face, but she was laying down and all I could see was between the rails.

Many of these heifers are pregnant and will have their first calf next spring. After she has a calf and starts the process of milking, she will be considered a cow.

Pole Barn Auction

These items were in a pole barn next to the heifer auction and would be sold the next day at 9 am.

This is usually a good place to look for a bargain – unless someone else wants the same item.
Those look like pretty nice animals. I always enjoyed seeing the 4-H animals at the county fairs here as well!
It often takes a lot of prep work to prepare animals for auction and fairs.
