After a summer of very little rain in our area, we looked to these late afternoon, gray skies with hope.
Weather forecasts promised us a significant amount of water, but we had heard that before – then only received a sprinkling or maybe at best a quarter of an inch.
We had even more hope as we watched the rain coming across the fields.
Large drops of rain soon arrived on our porch.
And before long it was pelting our windows.
By the time it was over (the next day), the birdbath was full and running over.
I enjoyed watching the water drops hitting our new driveway.
The three inches – plus – even began filling the farm pond, which now appears muddy.

We could almost hear the relief of the earth and trees and plants as they soaked up this water.
We are hoping for rain tonight and over the weekend as Hurricane Kay breaks up west of Baja California. I hope it doesn’t by-ass us!
Did you get rain?
YES! Depending on where in the LA area, everybody got some rain — some more than others. It was raining when I went to bed last night, though not heavily — more like a soaking rain. The sky is still gray this morning, so we may still get more. The hurricane is breaking up, and we are getting the moisture from the ends of the outer bands. The temperature is currently 77 degrees — 25 degrees less than it was this time yesterday!
Yay!!
