We noticed that Jacob put a fence around his alfalfa field in recent weeks, so figured his goats were going to be grazing near our property. They are usually closer to the barn and we only see them when we drive by their place.
It’s not an easy view from our house, but if we look out the correct window we can see them – usually following their afternoon or evening milking. Yes, they have lots of goats.
They are fun to watch because they seem to graze as a herd and not as individuals.
The field looks like a moving white blanket.
The evening sun was bright and glittered when they moved.
I will see if I can get better photos in the next week or so.
Love having goats in the neighborhood.
Is the alfalfa grown specifically as feed for the goats? Several cities in this area hire herds of goats to eat the grasses in the early fall as a fire prevention technicque!
Alfalfa feeds many animals – sometimes fresh in the field like this, other times it is harvested as hay and fed to them during winter.
That’s interesting — here it’s harvested for winter feed for cattle.
