I heard the equipment about 11:24 AM on Saturday morning.
From our kitchen window
I took this picture just before we left (12:30 PM) for the afternoon.
They were still working when we got home at 6:30 pm.
We knew there were at least 3 deer who made this cornfield their home, and as we drove by the field on our way home, we noticed a mamma and her youngster who were separated by the hillside. Both looked destressed and confused. I hope they got together again. They should have. They weren’t too far apart but couldn’t see each other because of slight grade in the field.
This was our view of the homestead when we left just after noon.
This is our current view. We can again see the small garage and the barndoor. The field across from our yard was planted several weeks later than the one that was just harvested, so I expect it will be several more days or maybe weeks before this is harvested.
An empty cornfield is a sure sign that autumn is soon here.
Fascinating time progression of the harvest — have you ever missed seeing this?
Yes, I have missed this sometimes because of travel.
