There is something relaxing about an early September evening – when the air is cooler, and the sky begins to change. Especially the view from our kitchen window.
We don’t see sunsets from our window during the summer rotation of the earth and sun, but by September we begin seeing colorful skies without having to go outside.
I noticed this evening sky from our kitchen window, but to get a shot of the open sky, I had to walk to the end of our driveway.
Breathing in the warm September air was good for my body and soul.
The waxing crescent moon greeted me when I looked above the more colorful horizon.
How lovely! Does the air really get cooler? Last night when I couldn’t sleep around midnight, I came into my office, and found that the thermometer read 89 degrees! We are towards the end of 6 weeks of heat, and now a “heat dome” has us in its grips for a week around the holiday — and they keep extending the prediction — it now will last until Thursday before it starts to cool. Meantime, roofers are re-roofing our complex, and we are being given all sorts of tips to stay cool — pre-cool the house before 4, then turn off the a/c; move into cooling centers during the day (usually in libraries; etc. I look forward to the day when we have nice cooling evenings!
Yes, it starts getting cooler as we get farther into September. It varies. It’s warm today, but it still feels like September, because the corn harvest is starting, and leaves are beginning to change colors.
