Manheim Brethren in Christ (MBIC) middle school Sunday school class hosted a chili and baked potato bar to support Hope Served. Each person paid for their meal with a donation.
Our invitation came from our youngest grandson, Jesse (right).
We were early, so the young people were lined up and ready for us to go through the serving line. Most of these kids helped their teachers and adult volunteers make this meal. Many of the ingredients were donated by parents.
Cerwin getting his baked potato from Jesse. Following that, there was butter, sour cream, bacon, broccoli and cheese so you could make a loaded potato.
Jere (Jesse’s dad – and our son) – getting his bowl of chili. On the way to choosing our table, we passed the table where water and delicious milk shakes were served.
After enjoying the delicious food in the next room, I told Jere that we would be glad for any left-over chili – with another donation. I was delighted that we got two quarts. 🙂
My heart is warmed when I watch young people use their energy to help with ministries that serve others.
The purpose of Hope Served is to come alongside individuals with disabilities
and their local communities as they co-create revolutionary and sustainable opportunities for authentic participation in all aspects of life.
What a wonderful cause. I love seeing young people doing for others! I am sure that chili was great too.
The chili was delicious. The cause is worthy of support, and I loved watching these young people serve.
Goodness, Jesse looks almost grown up! I’m glad that hie class works on such a worthwhile cause, and hope they are successful in helping the disabled!
I know. How can our Jesse be 14. Actually 14 1/2.
