7:29 AM
By 9:45 AM the ice was thicker and the icicles and longer.
By noon the ice began to melt and was falling off trees.
The grass under our trees was covered with pieces of ice.
Then before long the ice became water puddles for the crows to enjoy.
Your ice was way prettier than mine! 🙂
We live farther north. 🙂
That poor bird in the second photo looks as if his tail turned to icicles! I guess I’d never thought about the fact that the icicles grow longer as the day dawns — and that there would be many shards of ice on the grass as it began to melt and fall off trees! How interesting!
I wondered why the bird didn’t look for shelter. 🙂 It was one of those day where it was below freezing so the icy rain kept making the icicles grow longer. We don’t often see shards of ice like that, but as the day grew warmer the wind picked up – causing that to happen.
