Our kitchen window view just about sunrise.
Just after sunrise from our guestroom window.
I liked the variety of browns and yellows the morning sun created as I looked toward the woods behind us.
The birdbath gives you an idea of the 5-6 inches of snow we got during the night.
I enjoy seeing bird and animal tracks in freshly fallen snow.
Some of our birdfeeders looked like tiny igloos.
My favorite view from our kitchen table.
Someone is enjoying a snowmobile ride through neighboring fields.
By afternoon the wind was blowing snow from our house roof and tree branches.
I liked the contrast of colors as the afternoon sun hit the snow that was lodged on tree trunks and branches.
The blue sky a noon made the contrast even more noticeable.
The township did a good job of keeping our road open during the day, especially after the wind picked up.
The red poinsettias in our window looked pretty against the outside landscape.
Icicles hanging from our house roof were another pretty feature of this cold winter day.
Just after sunset I noticed another snowmobile guy enjoying the snowy fields.

I love a cold snowy day!
I prefer to enjoy snow from inside a warm, cozy house. 🙂
Me too!
We are hearing that you have had another very cold day today (Tuesday, 1/11! Stay warm! I love looking at new snow — the shot with the animal footprints is very nice (what is the animal in #6?), and the shadows (32) too!. The poinsettias and the icicles are lovely too — maybe one of those for next year’s Christmas cards?
Yes, it has been very cold today. It is 19 degrees right now. I think the footprints in #6 is a bird because it doesn’t go anywhere. The large print was maybe from flying away.
Thanks — that’s an interesting footprint, almost as if the bird sat down as it flew away!
