The Creamery at Plum Creek

Our friend Sam likes to choose this restaurant for our quarterly, 1 pm lunch with TFC friends. It is near Bernville, PA, not far from a few members of his family.

This time his youngest daughter, Dorcas, joined the group. Left to Right: Dorcas, Sam, Cerwin, Bunny, Peg and Inge.

This is Inge’s verson of our time together. Just Another Blog…: Sweet time with friends at the Plum Creek Creamery (iekohen.blogspot.com) I like her term for us, “The Old Guard.”

It’s interesting what will trigger a discussion to something that happened in TFC since we met (at various times) in the ’80s or ’90s. This time it was memories from some of the funny things that happened at retreats at Camp Hebron. That brought back memories of some of the people who attended the retreats. Sometimes it took us awhile to come up with someone’s name. 🙂

We were going to meet in December, but Sam had a cough and was not comfortable exposing us to whatever he had. It wasn’t Covid. We rescheduled for January 5 which happened to be the day before his 92nd birthday.

Following lunch, Cerwin bought each person a small vanilla ice cream then asked one of the ladies behind the order counter for a lighter to light the candle I brought along.

Sam’s son, John, felt bad for us that we don’t harvest any of the Hickory nuts in our yard, so sent a pack along with his dad. I plan to make some cookies with them, and Cerwin will enjoy some with his morning oatmeal.

Sam gave each of us a small pack of his homemade scrapple. It tasted good with over-easy eggs two days later.

Cerwin and I chose the April date and restaurant. Bunny and Peg will choose the date and restaurant for July and Inge will choose for October.
