This is how Deb, our youngest daughter, her husband, Roy, and Cerwin spent many days of the last few weeks
~~~
None of these photos are mine – most are from Deb and Cerwin’s cell phones. Some may have come from Roy’s cell phone. They may not be in perfect order, but it will give you an idea of how they prepared a new home for Barb.
Roy did most of the excavation work, but as this photo shows, Deb did some work too.
Roy preparing the area where the travel trailer would be placed.
Backing the trailer into place.
Before the two sides were extended.
This is when Cerwin began helping Roy with the deck and ramp.
Roy working at the entrance door.
Beginning work on the ramp
Roy and Deb’s friend Rick helped a few days as well.
Deb began preparing the inside, just before flying to Florida to bring her mother-in-law to Pennsylvania. Barb was originally from Pennsylvania – so this is “home” to her.
Preparing to leave Florida in an Ocean City, MD, shirt.
Barb (Roy’s mother) had fallen earlier in the year and after rehab in a senior facility. Roy, his sister, Mary, and Barb determined that she would need a bit more help in the future. Barb wanted to remain independent and did not want to live in a senior nursing home community, so Roy and Deb looked into the possibility of moving a travel trailer onto their property. That way she could be independent but close enough to Roy and Deb for daily assistance.
Relaxing in her new home.
Trying out her new ramp. It is not totally finished but is ready for use while Roy completes the finishing touches. The landscaping will be finished next spring.
It will be fun to have her join us at our family gatherings.
What a project! I’m sure that Roy’s mom will have a nice, cozy home, close to Roy and Deb, and they’ll be able to help out as is needed. Much better than a nursing home!
We think it is a great arrangement.
This is so wonderful. I am sure Roy’s Mom is so happy to be with Roy and Deb and home to PA. I wish her well!
Thanks.
