How delightful to enjoy our quarterly lunch with the Sauder cousins.

One of the things I like about being retired is that many cousins are also retired – or partly retired.

What fun to reminisce and catch up on each others lives. We learned that one of the ministers at the church where Jere and Kristen’s family attends is the son of one of the Sauder cousins. (It’s a small world.)

A cousin brought this picture of the 8 Sauder siblings from 1968 (Circa).

Left to right: Luke and Willa Mae Sauder, Amos and Ruth Sauder, John and Bertha Sauder (back), John David and Laura High, Grandpa Elam Groff (Step-father. Their father Michael Sauder died when the children were fairly young), Grandma Anna Sauder Groff, Edna (hidden) and Aaron Sauder, Isaac and Naomi Martin, Elvin and Ella High (back – Cerwin’s parents) and Roy and Alice Newswanger.

There was also a challenge to figure out who these cousins are. đŸ™‚ Conclusion. Back: Elaine, Rhoda, Resie. Middle: Karen, Rose, Joyce. Front: Reba, a foster child, Luke Ray.

The older I get the more I enjoy the memories that this family gives me. I was a teenager (18) when Cerwin and I started dating and I learned to know the Sauder’s.

Later that evening we got a phone call from our oldest son Jeff – telling us that he just had a successful archery hunt. He and Chris live only six miles away, so we went to see it and watch Nate and Jeff do the butchering. Jeff gifted the meat to Nate and Lauree.

Congratulations, Jeff.
