It has taken awhile to convince the birds to come back to our feeders following the time in August when the Pennsylvania powers-that-be suggested that we do not feed them because of a disease among the birds.
August and early September were hot, so I waited until later in September to clean the feeders and begin feeding them again.
Finches are usually the first of our feathered friends to come to the feeders.
They love picking around at suet, but especially enjoy black oil sunflower seeds.
Though they frequent our feeders and can seem like ordinary birds, I love seeing their perfect feather patterns.
It is very cold today, so I expect our feeders will soon be filled with a nice variety of birds. I saw a Downy and a Nuthatch this morning. Yesterday there was a Junco looking for seeds. They are a sure sign that Winter is just around the corner and migration has or is happening.
I’m so glad the birds are coming back — those are lovely photos of their feather patterns!
Thank you!
I love the look of the little guy in the last photo – it’s like he’s saying, “Thank you! Where have you been? We missed you!”
I liked its expression too. The reason I kept it for last.
