Brethren Disaster Relief Auction

It is a bit difficult to photograph the entrance billboard at Lebanon Expo, because it is continually moving.

I love walking by the area where the Amish are making donuts.

The scent is amazing, making it difficult to walk by on the way to the heifer auction and postpone a donut purchase until later in the day.

The heifer auction is one of the first official functions that happens on Friday morning.

I couldn’t resist this shot. πŸ™‚ He was waiting on his parents who were on the inside of the fence – following the bidding.

After visiting with a few people and buying an order of French fries (my breakfast), I went to West Hall – known as Artisan Alley at this event. This man has been to these auctions for many years – making thousands of loom hot pads.

Donations go toward Brethren Disaster Relief.

There is a delightful display of vegetables.

My purpose for going to Artisan Alley was to buy a few baked items. This year I purchased them (bread, pie and cookies) from my sister-in-law Brenda and two of their granddaughters. She is married to my youngest brother, Steve.

A few photos from the information table in Center Hall.

There was a variety of children’s activities in Southeast Hall.

The craft show in Brightbill barn was filled with beautiful items made by very creative people.

The Gift Baskets are a big deal at this event. This year they were displayed in North Hall.

The Silent Auction items are also displayed in North Hall.

The committee was busy setting up the items for Friday evening’s auction in North Hall.

A nice game of Tic-Tac-Toe is ready for auction.

I considered making this my last year of taking photos for the auction because it requires two long days. I thought they should find a younger person. πŸ™‚

However, I received permission from the committee to just be there for a few hours each day and photograph what I could. They have quite a catalogue of photos for basics – from me and other photographers – but they do want a few fresh photos for next year’s advertising.

In my next post I will show you a variety of quilts.
