16th Annual Bluegrass Gospel Singing on the Farm

~~~
This is an event we enjoy attending each year – when it suits.
We were not able to attend on Friday evening, but spent most of the day there on Saturday.
The first group had just finished when we arrived. There were six sets of singers. Each sang for one hour – twice – 10:00 AM until 10:00 PM.
Tru-Vintage, Ephrata, PA
The Johnson Bentley Band, Due West, SC.
Because their last name is Miller (a very common name), they named their group after their son Johnson Bentley (standing: second from right)
The Werner Family, Mount Joy, PA
This is how a man sitting near us spent most of his day – looking up now and then and moving his feet in time with the music. 🙂
By late morning, the tent was nicely filled.
I took this photo from the back of the food area. The people under this canopy were selling coffee, hot tea and a few other things.
The fabulous scent of the grill wafted through the tent every now and then.
I had a grilled chicken sandwich for lunch, Cerwin enjoyed a pulled pork sandwich. We shared an order of fries and each enjoyed cold tea and lemonade. For supper we shared an order of fries and each had a dish of ice cream.
It was a beautiful day for an outside concert.
Lakeside Gospel, Madisonville, TN
Aaron Stutzman, Millersburg, IN. Aaron is the one with the hat.
Aaron’s young son joined him in yodeling.
His children joined the group in singing, “Daniel Prayed.”
Daniel Prayed
I heard about a man one day who wasted not his time away
He prayed to God every morning noon and night
He cared not for the things of man he trusted one who would not fail
Oh, Daniel prayed every morning, noon, and night.
   Chorus: Oh, Daniel served the living God while here upon this earth he trod
   He prayed to God every morning noon and night
   He cared not for the kings decree he trusted God to set him free
   And he prayed to God every morning, noon, and night
They cast him in the lion’s den because he would not honor men
He prayed to God every morning noon and night
The jaws were locked and it made him shout, and God soon got them
safely out
Oh, Daniel prayed every morning, noon, and night
Now brother, let us watch and pray like Daniel did from day to day
He prayed to God every morning noon and night
We too can gladly daring do the things that God will take us through
Oh, Daniel prayed every morning, noon, and night
The Churchmen, Collinsville, VA
We missed their first set. I took this picture when they opened the second set of groups at 4:00 PM.
By evening the tent was full and people began setting up chairs outside the tent.
We left about 7:30 PM. This is the view of the tent from our car. We are generally early-to-bed people, so staying until 10:00 PM when the concert ended did not appeal to us. 🙂
It was a fabulous day of music, food and seeing friends.
