After leaving our motel we drove south, with Lake Huron to our left. There were signs that autumn is coming.
I enjoyed that some of our morning drive took us right by the lake, with many summer homes and resorts.
I treasured the last sights of Lake Huron knowing we would soon be miles from lakeside scenes.
As we moved away from the lake we saw some pretty lavender flowers.
Cerwin’s Breakfast
Both of us were hungry for a breakfast/brunch of eggs (10:00 am) so I looked for a family restaurant on my cell phone. We chose B’s Family Restaurant, Au Gres, Michigan. I always enjoy family restaurants – especially at breakfast time. You can tell there are many regular customers because they seem to know each other.
Even though I was hungry for over-medium eggs, seeing that I could order a half portion of biscuits and sausage gravy, I changed my mind. Yes, this is half a portion! I was expecting one biscuit. I guess a full order is four biscuits. 🙂 It was delicious.
One of the things we notice in Michigan is the big rigs (especially dump trucks) with many, many axels because they have permits to carry very heavy loads.
We drove through a a few heavy downpours as we approached Ohio. Some cars pulled over or put on their 4-way lights.
When I noticed that our motel in North Olmsted, Ohio, was just five miles from Lake Erie, I said to Cerwin, lets drive to to the lake for supper. We might as well see 4 out of 5 Great Lakes. 🙂 That is Lake Erie in the photo. We found an Outback Steak House nearby.
I joked to Cerwin that it was only about 200 miles to Lake Ontario, so we might as well see all five Great Lakes on this trip. He was not impressed nor convinced. 🙂
My next post will be the last of our sixteen-day trip.
Hey, if you’ve never been to Lake Ontario, ya might as well have gone!
We were there a few times, many years ago. 🙂
