The guys – Bob, Cerwin and Dietrich (Bob and Doris’ grandson) – set up their stand at Scenic Store in “downtown” Pennington. The store is the town. 🙂 There are a few surrounding houses, but not close together. Doris said the “town” includes 52 people.
Scenic Store is a local convenience store – also a place to get fishing licenses. Bob and Doris have permission to set up here as it suits them and have a faithful clientele who count on them being here at least once a week during the summer months.
Doris and I went to the stand (a few miles from their house) about noon to take lunch to the guys and give them a break so Bob and Cerwin could check out an upcoming tool/equipment/lumber sale. Bob wanted to see if he needed to go to the sale the next day. (He didn’t see anything he needed.) 🙂
Their son, Jon & Jen’s, children sell cookies here. This week it was Dietrich’s turn to man the stand.
When I snapped a shot of this couple (who had called ahead to see if they would be here), the man said, “I am not used to being on this side of the camera.” They then posed for this picture.
Of course I asked him what he photographs. I learned that he is Terry Larson, a well-known local fishing guide. He enjoyed telling me about some of his experiences.
His website tells me that he has been guiding for 25 years and has provided professional services to members of National Geographic and several film and exploration groups from around the world.
After getting back from the store I walked around their yard looking for flowers that had not been damaged by hail. That meant I had to take pictures on the south side of the house, as the hail came from the north.
Part 2 of this day will include a visit to their son Japheth and Aimee’s new house. That will be in my next post.
