About this time every year – when the daisies are finished blooming – Cerwin uses our hedge trimer to cut the daisies, daylilies and Hosta down to just an inch or two above ground level.
We learned to do this several years ago, then in about two or three weeks, everything starts growing nicely and in a few weeks the daylilies will bloom again.

Now we can see the bushes and tree better.
It is easier to focus on the Crepe (or Crape) Myrtle bush that is beginning to bloom.
This bush will bloom and beautify our yard for many weeks.
Our crepe myrtle is beginning to bloom as well! It usually doesn’t start blooming until well into August. It looks like you like the hot pink color for them as well. 🙂

I expect ours will be in full bloom in a week or two.
Your garden always looks nice — how great that you can encourage a second bloom!
I was grateful when I learned about this a few years ago, because daylilies and Hosta get tattered after awhile. This gives them another fresh look.
