Manheim Central High School graduation was supposed to be outside, but with the “iffy” weather, it was moved to Olympic Hall at Spooky Nook Sports Complex.
With his parents, Kristen and Jere
With us
The best I could do as he walked by our row of chairs.
A rose for each graduate.
The room was dark and the stage was light and there were lots of heads in front of me – creating a challenge for taking pictures on the stage. Deb and I experimented with a variety of settings. Finally she found one that worked in special settings. She and I have the same camera. It was a setting I didn’t even know about.
I turned my camera on Jere, Kristen, Jana and Austin. I liked the setting for this too.
Ian standing to receive recognition with several others. It might have been for graduating from Lancaster County Career & Technology Center. He stood three or four times.
Another recognition – maybe for graduating Magna Cum Laude.
This year’s featured speaker was Seth Obetz. Everyone in Manheim knows the heartbreaking story from a few years ago when the Obetz’s came to understand that a top employee committed an appalling fraud which caused the tragic demise of the family company.
He did an amazing job of speaking from his heart, challenging the students and reminding everyone about the blessings of living in or near the town of Manheim. I don’t think anyone was checking cell phones or whispering to someone nearby while he spoke.
His parents graduated from Manheim Central with me in 1961 (sixty years ago).
Ian receiving his diploma.
Being congratulated by Mr. Joshua Weitzel, High School Principal.
Bummer, I must have bumped my camera setting to black and white for the tossing of the hats.
I tried a photo shop setting that makes it look better. 🙂
Cerwin had a better view of this shot that I did – thus I am using his instead of mine.
His sister, Jana, congratulating him.

Kristen looks so different to me. Maybe her hair is different. Did she used to wear a hair covering? I’ve watched your grandchildren grow up on your blog…..probably 14 years now that I have followed you. I started the year I retired from teaching and found myself with all this extra time and a nasty virus. I have followed about 8 people since then. Most are now FB.
You have such a lovely family!
Thank you. We think so.
Fun that you have followed me for so long. Yes, Kristen did wear a covering for many years. You are quite observant. 🙂
Yes I’ve watched all the grands grow up.
My goodness, they do grow up quickly! Is Ian the last grandchild to graduate from HS?
No, Ian has two younger brothers, Jared and Jesse – then we move on to great grandchildren.
