These are a short-lived flower. If I miss getting photos when they are blooming, I don’t get a second chance.
The scientific name for the bleeding heart plant is Lamprocapnos spectabilis. I think I will stick with bleeding heart. It’s easier to pronounce. 🙂
The flowers are rather fragile and hang in rows on arching stems above soft, green foliage.
They have a short growing season. By midsummer, the whole plant dies back to the ground.
They are perennial and re-seed, because I find them in a variety of places in the memory garden.
It’s a lovely flower, and how nice that it re-seeds itself in the memory garden!
