This is what the morning looked like as we drove west on I-40 from Knoxville to Lebanon, TN.
Rain is the reason we scratched our plans to visit the hog hunting lodge this morning – and decided to wait until Monday when the weather would be sunny and warmer.
The weather had cleared to an ocassional drizzle by the time we arrived at Heze and Kayla’s house where Heze, his dad (Mark) and brother (Josiah) were arranging Heze’s work tools in the garage. Heze will soon be in training to be an-over-the-road mechanic for trucks and motorhomes that break down on the roads and highways in their area.
The reception barn at the wedding venue.
I stood on the balcony to take the next two pictures.
Most of the Myers’ family stayed here – part of the wedding venue – just across the yard.
The first floor is where Diane prepared and held the rehearsal meal. The second floor had two bedrooms, a kitchen, dining room, two bathrooms and a lounge area. Our bedroom was on the right. The third floor had several bedrooms. It was a perfect place for us and Mark and Diane’s family.
The wedding ceremony would be held behind the reception barn.
Thankfully the weatherman said it would be nice the next day.
This old GMC is part of the grounds.

Rehearsal #1. The flower girl was not sure about walking down the aisle, but her cousin (the ring dude) helped convince her to keep moving.
Kayla and Heze
Heze wanted me to see his cool shirt. “Nacho Average Groom.” 🙂
Rehearsal #2. Heze bringing his parents to their seats.
The guys coming down the aisle. The second rehearsal ended quickly when it began to rain.
Mark and Diane served a delicious taco rehearsal meal.
Leroy Bucher (son of Peter and Emily) was fascinated with my camera as we waited our turn to go through the taco buffet. Peter was a groomsman and is a childhood friend of Heze – from Maine.
Many of those in this line are cousins or married to cousins of Kayla.
Diane and one of Kayla’s aunts talking to the disc jokey.
I don’t know the names of most of these people, but I know the man on the right is Kayla’s dad and the lady on the left is a grandma.
There was a choice of chicken or beef. A restaurant prepared the meat. Mark and Diane flew from Maine, so had to buy and prepare everything after arriving on Friday.
Diane made a delicious strawberry dessert. The strawberries covered a layer of cream cheese and whipped cream and a crust of almond flour and nuts.
Whoopie pies by one of Kayla’s aunts.
I missed getting a picture of the pecan pie Kayla’ mom made for Cerwin’s birthday. He learned about it when they sang happy birthday to him.
When Diane learned that I forget to take a picture of the pie, she sent a picture to me. Thanks, Diane, for coming to my rescue. 🙂
Oh, look. She found another picture. One of Cerwin admiring his birthday pie.

The food was delicious, and – after clean up and a good nights sleep – we were ready for the big day.
