Friday Afternoon, February 18

I heard a loud thud and knew a large bird hit the window. I quickly went to a window and saw a hawk with a bird he had taken from one of our feeders. 🙁

I think it was a bit dizzy from hitting the window, because it immediately landed and waited a bit to fly away.

I was upset that it killed a bird until I saw it was a blue jay. There are so many of those – and they are quite pesky – so I didn’t feel quite so bad.

It flew away away, then landed again, convincing me that it was dealing with dizziness.

The third time it took off, it kept flying.

Because of the bands in its tail feathers, I think it was a Cooper’s Hawk.
