Cerwin came home from the grocery store with two beautiful bouquets of flowers.
He and I enjoy roses, but since they can be rather short-lived, he also bought some daisies that he thought would survive longer. 🙂
Friday, February 5
We took a mailing to the post office, went to Village Market (Hinkeltown) to replenish our freezer with some baked items, then to Arby’s for a quick lunch.
For the evening we had a 4:15 appointment with Roy and Deb who were taking us to a restaurant of Roy’s choice.
He LOVES finding a restaurant where we have never been. One that features seafood and steak. Steak for Cerwin and Deb and seafood for Roy and me.
This time he chose Devon which is located in the Hershey Press Building, Hershey, PA.
I told him that a restaurant in Hershey was perfect for my 77th birthday, because I was born in Hershey – where my parents lived for the first 3 years of their marriage. This is one of the youngest photos I have of myself.
We started with delicious rolls and chocolate butter. Like, what other kind of butter would the “Sweetest Town on Earth” feature in February. 🙂 We were in the heart of Hershey and could see Hershey Park from the parking lot.
Since it was my birthday, I thought it would be fun to get a specialty, non-alcoholic drink. Our waitress gave me two choices. I forget the name, but it was delicious. She gave me a straw, but because of the amount of pulp from the strawberries and the mint leaves, it was next to impossible to use a straw.
Deb tasted it and decided to order one too, but something was missing in hers – maybe a sweet syrup. She enjoyed it too, but said she would have liked it better if she hadn’t tasted mine first. 🙂
My choice of entrée was lobster tail, smoked asparagus and mushrooms. Everything was delicious – but the lobster was fabulous. I haven’t had lobster for several years.
Roy ordered a seafood platter.
Deb’s filet mignon, asparagus and creamed corn and bacon.
Cerwin’s mashed potatoes, filet mignon and creamed corn and bacon.
The four of us. Photo taken by our waitress.
My vanilla bean crème brulee.
Cerwin and Deb ordered crème brulee as well, but only mine was served with a candle. 🙂
There was also a birthday rose and a variety of cookies and snacks from Roy and Deb.
What a great way to begin my birthday week.
Happy Birthday! That crème bruleé looks as good as the one I had in Montreal years ago – may have to go to that place just for dessert!
Thank you. The crème brulee was delicious.
