Agape Café & Grille with Grandchildren

Thursday Evening, January 14

I didn’t know this restaurant existed until Dustan & Jenna and Nate & Lauree chose this place to celebrate the guys 2020 birthdays. (We extended birthday date opportunities into January because restaurants were closed so much in 2020.)

Cerwin and I arrived early to secure a table for six (no reservations available) then looked around the beautiful gift shop. We did call ahead and get on a wait list, but that is not guaranteed if you don’t arrive early.

The others arrived just before our appointment at 6 pm. We were pleased to be seated almost immediately as it was a bustling place. Cerwin is in my seat for the picture. He was seated on a chair at the end of the table.

Cerwin, Jenna (who is expecting our 7th great grandchild very soon), Lauree, Nate and Dustan.

The girls and I ordered fruit spritzers: Mango (Lauree), Strawberry (Jenna), Passion Fruit (me).

Cerwin loved his smoked baked beans and brisket. He also had sweet potato fries.

We smiled at Dustan’s response to his “Small Smokehouse Board” which included smoked pastrami, smoked burnt ends, sharp cheese, smoked Gouda, mixed greens, red peppers, French bread, pickles, shredded slaw and two sauces. He wasn’t expecting so much food. 🙂 If I remember correctly, he had sweet potato fries on the side.

I think we all sampled something from his board – especially the smoked pastrami – which everyone declared “delicious.” I can’t imagine the size of the medium and large boards.

We all needed take-home boxes since we wanted to taste a bit of dessert from the check-in/check-out display area: macarons, dirt pudding, peanut butter brown bar.

There is nothing more delightful for us than spending time with our children and grandchildren. I loved listening to the discussion during the evening and marveled at their insight, wisdom and knowledge of things going on in the world.

I took this picture just before going home. This is in Lancaster County Amish country, so you will notice Amish in the restaurant. I think half of the customers were Amish. Many of the servers are Amish.

For those in our area, it is about a half mile beyond Sight & Sound. They have a Ronks address. Cerwin is already wanting to go back. He wants to try a breakfast.
