This is not an unusual sighting at our bird feeders, but I only see them during the cold weather and rarely – compared to Red-bellied, Downy and Hairy Woodpeckers.
This one was fun to watch because he stayed awhile.
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker
I kept trying to remember why the name of this bird sounded so familiar – and I was very sure it had nothing to do with birds. I finally remembered: it was the name of my favorite sandwich at Isaac’s (which they had the audacity to remove from their menu!) Now I finally know what that bird looks like! 🙂
