The other day I was watching a nuthatch and at first thought its actions were something to do with mating, but I didn’t see another nuthatch and the longer I watched, the more I realized that it was upset with the wren who was eating at the suet where it wanted to eat. π
The nuthatch kept flipping back and fort on the branch, flapping its wings and keeping an eye on the wren.
The wren basically ignored the noise and flapping of wings.
The nuthatch didn’t give up…
…and the wren kept on eating.
The wren let him know that he wasn’t leaving before he was finished.
The nuthatch continued fluttering in frustration.
The wren finally finished and the nuthatch immediately flew to the suet.
This is hilarious! I wish you could have gotten a video of it. π
I don’t think “video”. That would have been fun.
“It’s mine,” said the wren, “until I’m finished. Flap your wings all you want, but it’s mine until I’m finished!” What a fun thing to watch!
They sometimes act like people. π
