I was surprised to look out our kitchen window when I got up at 4 am and see two skunks rooting around in the flower bed below our bird feeders.

It was fun watching them quietly scurrying around looking for something to eat.

Our daughter Deb said they are eating a lot these days in preparation for hibernation.

They are incredibly pretty animals.

Yes, I know they have an awful scent, but I made sure to stay inside – watching and taking pictures from the kitchen window.

Then, just like that they were gone. I took the first picture at 4:00 am and the last one at 4:03 am.
