This breakfast was a long time coming – a promise from me before COVID captured our lives.
This was a birthday gift (June) for my sister, Nancy (left), and a sympathy gift for our Aunt Julia whose husband Glen died just before COVID closed restaurants and changed our country.
My choice was Avocado Toast and an egg over medium. I like avocado and wanted to try this. I loved it. Nancy tried a taste and wrinkled up her nose.

We knew we would have fun together – and we did. 🙂
I felt kind of wimpy that the only thing “ungluing” me at the moment was that I needed an IT person to update my Pitney Bowes ConnectRight bulk mail system – which the Post Office updated several days earlier. They update all the time, so I am not sure why it caused an issue this time. (I don’t like having to pay an IT person for something fairly simple, but a thing I can’t fix.)
Nancy’s husband was in the hospital with heart issues. Due to COVID she couldn’t go to see him until 10 am, so we planned an 8:00 to 9:30 am breakfast. Julia told us a little bit of what it’s like to adjust to widowhood. She will be fine because she is rooted in Jesus and His promises, but has difficult moments and says being a widow is a lonely life.
I enjoy this comfortable café with friendly staff and good food.
After taking Nancy and Julia home – and driving toward our house, I noticed that our woodlot was beginning to change colors. Nancy and Julia live near us and about a mile apart on the next road – to our east.
Update: A TFC Global IT person fixed my program issue the next morning and our brother-in-law Marlin was transferred to Washington DC yesterday, where he is having a Brachi heart procedure this morning, Monday, October 19.
Brachytherapy is administered during a special heart catheterization procedure. The radiation itself is delivered by a special type of catheter designed to apply radiation from within the coronary artery. The catheter is passed into the coronary arteries and across the blockage being caused by restenosis.
Keep Marlin in your prayers as he recovers from his heart issue.
Update. He came through the brachi treatment and is doing well. It is possible that he will come home on Tuesday. ? (He did come home on Tuesday.)
Glad you were finally able to be together. Praying for Marlin.
Yes, and thank you for praying. I received a message from Nancy this evening, saying the procedure went well.
