Thursday Morning, September 17
I went outside the morning after the corn harvest to enjoy the new view of our surroundings.
As I looked around, I noticed that someone must have been working through the night because there was fresh layer of manure on the field across the field. (Not sure that “fresh” is a good word for manure.) 🙂 I didn’t catch a scent of it until i walked close to the field. I expect there is something they put in the manure to remove/lessen the scent.
That is part of country living and will help insure a good crop for next spring and summer.
Right next to that field is the butternut squash that appears to be about ready for harvest.
It appears that they will have many tractor trailer loads of squash.
I am enjoying the feel of fall in the air and our beautiful weather.
The newly harvested corn fields always look so tidy! And there should be lots of squash in the stores very soon!
I think these squash show up in cans – like something similar to pumpkin pie.
Oh, ok — then there will be plenty of canned squash or soup!
