Sunday, August 30
It was a delight to have lunch with Lowell and Elaine (center) and Cerwin’s sister Velda and her husband Mel (right). Elaine and Velda became pen pals through a Mennonite publication when they were 10 years old – after discovering they were born on the same day.
Their families had been getting together for years – close to their birthdays – and eventually the gatherings became quite large – including each of their siblings and their children. Now that both sets of parents have passed away, their get-together is usually just the four of them.
Mel and Velda decided to surprise Lowell and Elaine and invite us. We hadn’t seen Lowell and Elaine for many years so it was fun to catch up on their lives and their family.
Cerwin’s dessert
Pretty flowers at a red light – on the way home.
It was a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
