We got behind some slow traffic on the way to Lititz.
The Rock (sound systems by Clair Brothers) has changed the landscape on the north side of our small town of Lititz – not far from our house. The tallest building is where many rock, country and other big name bands come to test their new sound systems that are built by Clair Brothers. The smaller buildings house businesses, a gym, a hotel, and Per Diem – the restaurant that Deb chose for her birthday meal.
We started our meal with a delicious herb bread.
This Lancaster Sweet Corn Polenta with ricotta and parmesan was one of the highlights of our meal. None of us had ever tasted it, so chose to share it as an appetizer. It was incredibly delicious.
We also shared delicious Fried Brussels.
Roy and Deb each chose the PD Steak Frites – chargrilled hanger steak, truffle fries, smoked paprika compound butter.
Cerwin enjoyed the Tour Burger – 8 oz custom blend, smoked cheddar cheese, bacon, mayo, house bread & butter pickles, shaved onion, thick-cut tomato, lettuce, brioche, fries.
I thoroughly enjoyed the Chicken Schnitzel – focaccia breaded chicken cutlet, parmesan potatoes, spring greens, lemon caper vinaigrette.
Deb was surprised when they brought her Seasonal Hand Pies – with a birthday wish. The seasonal filling was peach. Cerwin and I shared one of these duos. However, ours didn’t come with a birthday wish. 🙂
A new birthday means our youngest child is now 46. I especially remember her birth, because it was the first time Cerwin was allowed to be with me during a birth of our children.
Roy’s Ice Cream Sandwich – Fox Meadows vanilla ice cream smashed between two homemade chocolate chip cookies, dipped in chocolate ganache & sprinkles.
Roy and Deb outside the restaurant.
We each wanted updated photos and found an area away from the sun and buildings.
It was delightful to spend a few hours with them.
You find the most unique restaurants, with unique menus. We would not know what some of those food items are!! Always enjoy your pics/posts. Like your tradition of taking each in your family out for their birthdays. What a blessings you are to them and they to you, I’m certain.
Deb chose the restaurant. We had never been there – even thought it is only a few miles from our house.
Sounds like a lovely way to celebrate a special birthday! Our son turned 47 last December so he’s 1 1/2 years older than Deb. You all have so many delightful eating establishments in your area. ?
It was delicious and especially nice to be close to home.
Polenta?? Polenta in Lancaster County?? Oh my goodness, just for that it would be worth going there! The memories it brings back!
It was made with fresh corn and was fabulous.
