One of our bald cardinals.
I am pleased that the grosbeaks stayed all summer.
We have a lot of hummingbirds, but they only eat one at a time.
I sometimes see two, but it’s when they are fighting over the feeder. 🙂
We were beneficiaries of Jere and Kristen’s homemade bread and raspberry jelly (without seeds).
Life is good.
Beautiful birds — you’ll have to protect the bread and jelly from them!
The bread would not be good for their little bellies.
Did I ever tell you about my bald bird? I bought a lovebird when we lived in Central Africa. It’s leg had been banded too tightly, and eventually it lost that leg. It used to chew the bars at the corner of it’s cage, so it lost those feathers. Poor thing. I couldn’t just just set it free, because it had been caught far from us in Congo and I was afraid it wouldn’t survive. When we left Africa I gave it and the cage to my African friend. I don’t know what happened to it after that.
I don’t remember hearing that story. Poor bird. It is good there was someone like you to love it.
