Because I am a lover of rain – especially during the summer when crops and flowers are thirsty – I grabbed my umbrella after lunch and went for a walk around our yard.
Hosta flower dripping with rain drops.
Butternut squash in the field across the road.
A large puddle between the driveway at the bottom of our yard and a Homestead cornfield.
The corn is looking quite healthy.
The roots and stalks are happy with this gentle all-day rain.
Remember when Diane used up all our mint to make 80 quarts of tea concentrate? The tea is growing back nicely and will probably be ready for another cutting in August. Hint. Hint. Diane. You are welcome to come for another visit. 🙂
A perennial that will soon be blooming.
Firebush
Holly
Red Bud Tree
Crepe Myrtle
We enjoyed a delicious supper that included fresh corn-on-the-cob from an Amish roadside stand.
I went outside after supper while it was still drizzling and captured this picture of our wet dill.
I love a gentle all-day summertime rain!
A good soaking rain brings out the life in all the plants, edible or not! These are lovely photos, and it looks as if it was a beautiful rain!
Yes. That was a week and a half ago, so we are ready for another all-day rain as it has been quite hot – with many days in the 90s.
I’m with you when it comes to loving rain – and did the same thing, went out for a walk – except without an umbrella! Running outside in the rain was one of my favorite things to do when I was a kid.
I took the umbrella because I expected to be outside for 15-20 minutes. 🙂
We sure could use some of that rain up here! We were north of here around Seneca Lake and the corn leaves are drying up and turning brown due to lack of rain! We had several trees removed from our yard, put down grass seed and straw and have had to water every evening due to lack of rain. Your pictures are beautiful and a “cooling” site to see! ?
It is sad to see dry fields. We are ready for rain again too – but everything is still green. There was rain all around us last night but we only got a few drops.
