June 14
First, I saw how well the homestead corn is growing.
If you follow my posts, you know I make most of my entries a week or two after the photo was taken. So the corn is now twice this tall due to rain and hot weather.
I like to post for pleasure and without the pressure of having to get it online as soon as possible. š
This is my favorite photo in this post. š These three live on the homestead and barked and howled as I approached. It was like a trio of bass, tenor and treeing a coon.
They listened when I said, “Hey, you guys. I am your neighbor. You don’t have to be worried about me.” They are kept in their yard by an invisible fence.
It was a quiet Sunday in our neighborhood. I walked almost a mile before I saw a car or person, then a short time later I saw these two Amish children riding ponies in their lane. When they got close to me, they asked where I lived.
I took the picture of the children and ponies at 2:10 pm and this picture of a neighbor’s cat at 2:37 pm. I hadn’t walked very far, but spent about half an hour talking to a friend from church who was visiting his brother-in-law and sister-in-law and called to me from their yard. We got caught up on our families.
The neighbor next to them was out in his driveway. We talked almost an hour – catching up on the neighborhood and truck shows. I know it was almost an hour, because I took this picture at 3:40 pm. š
Right after I took this picture, the young man (new to the neighborhood) at the next house turned his weed eater off to ask me about my camera. What a nice young man. It was great to meet him.
Just after passing Eli and Jacob’s farm (the Amish who have a field across the road from us) I saw some interesting weeds.
I found some buds that were opening, hoping to see what the flower looks like.
The honeysuckle in our own yard. It usually takes me 50 to 60 minutes to walk around the two mile block. (I am not a fast walker). Today I left the house at 1:48 pm and returned at 4:12 pm. š Oh, but I had a great time talking to friends and neighbors.
Cerwin was about ready to come look for me. š
Our crown vetch is blooming – helping to beautify the bank in our upper yard.
Our Shasta Daisies are about to open.
A young squirrel was enjoying the seeds in a ground feeder. I don’t like seeing them there, but liked that the evening sun made him silhouetted to my view.
The yucca flowers will soon be blooming.
They are incredibly tall this year.
My new purchases for this summer.
I liked that both containers matched our stone and both had ropes on them.
It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon – indeed.
Dear Doris, I so loved your photos and stories of your walk around the block…. When I read it, it was almost like I walked by your side! Big hug. Miss and love you! His Blessings for you and Cerwin (and the rest of the family…) XxX
What fun that would have been to have you and Anneke walk with me.
