Jacob is tilling and cultipacking the field again. I am almost sure that this crop won’t be corn.
By evening he was planting something with a three-row planter.
I expect this may be butternut squash – like last year – because of the amount of space between the planters.
On this side of the road – and closer to our kitchen window – I noticed a female red-breasted grosbeak on one of our shepherd’s hooks.
There seem to be a lot more male grosbeaks this year, so it was good to see a female again – even though they are not as pretty as the male.
This catbird was putting the finishing touches to the grape jelly.
During the night a critter of the evening – probably a raccoon – ate half of the orange. π
It is getting too warm to have an orange out, so I am putting the remainder of the jelly on a dish. The birds aren’t eating it as much as they were earlier, but something is licking the dish clean during the night.
The pretty red-headed woodpecker has been here most days recently.
