Notes from Wednesday Worship – Frontline Report

June 3 – Via Zoom

Opening Thoughts – Crist Bross

As the storm went through tonight I thought about another storm that is coming and that we must lift up our eyes to the fields that are ready for harvest.

Frontline Focus means we will be hearing from some of our missionaries tonight.

Some are live others were prerecorded.

Zach Nolt – from the Root Cellar in Lewiston, Maine

Zach and Monica and their children serve the people of Lewiston through the Root Cellar.

The Root Cellar is an inner-city ministry that connects local Christians and churches with social, economic, and spiritual needs in the impoverished downtown neighborhood of Lewiston.

Zach said the virus has allowed us to step back a bit – giving us time to make some repairs as we prepare to get back to full service again.

Pray for us this summer as we serve through the summer camps, lawn care and food programs. Pray for wisdom and that there will not be any cases of COVID-19.

We need volunteers. There are many ways to serve with The Root Cellar, plus there are opportunities to serve with Choice Books during the time to you volunteer at The Root Cellar.

Pray for us as we deal with all the emotions, hurt and distrust during the current protests as we serve a variety of nationalities. Pray that I will have wisdom on how to care for them and share the love of Christ.

We love you. You have shaped and prepared us for serving here in Maine.

Kevin and Beth Lynne – Sentani, Papua, Indonesia.

The connection wasn’t perfect, but it was good to see Kevin (live) as he updated us on the work in Indonesia.

Thank you for your prayers and support.

It has been stressful and concerning to be here during the virus as we try not to transfer COVID to the interior. Unless there is an emergency, we are only transferring cargo.

Most of you have heard about the recent accident where one of our pilots died. Beth and I have been part of comforting those who grieve.

As we serve, we are challenged to keep our eyes on the Lord.

Pray that our upcoming furlough will be restful.

Dan and Amy Patches and their two boys – recently moved from Kunming, China to Uzbekistan. They are currently here in the United States.

They are in Uzbekistan where Dan is teaching English.

During the last 18 years in China they experienced reasonable freedom in worship of the Lord, but is has become more restricted during the past two years. Most are only able to have family worship, but it has brought a sense of unity between Christians – which isn’t always visible during times of religious freedom.

In Uzbekistan it has been difficult to connect with a church. There are half a million people in our city. In a similar area where you live in Pennsylvania there are probably 200 churches. In our city there is one small church and it is used by four different groups. Most people in Uzbekistan are Muslim. We do have freedom to worship.

Amy and I were recently blessed to meet a Russian pastor’s family who prayed for our sons.

Coronavirus is an invisible enemy – but we also have access to an invisible power – prayer.

Craig and Shannon Russell and their family serve with JAARS in Waxhaw, NC

Aviation training was postponed due to the virus so each of those who were training to go to a mission field have been delayed by many weeks.

Training is beginning again in early June.

Pray for our Aviation Camps this summer. We still do not know if we will be able to hold them. These are for aspiring young pilots.

Praise the Lord – The vehicle we sent to Cameroon is finally out of customs.

We are welcoming a new outreach medical team – south of Cameroon.

Thank you for your prayers and support.

Closing – Joel Stoner

Our local, summer mission outreach – Manheim Project will probably look different this year. We are unsure of how things will work, but we are proceeding as though it will happen. Pray about that.

Not everyone of our missionaries could report tonight because of situations in the country where they serve and some do not have strong enough internet for a Zoom meeting.

Closing Prayer

Lord, I praise you that every tribe and tongue will be celebrating around Your throne – some because we have faithful men and women from our congregation who have answered the call to go and help push back the darkness of Satan.
