Sunday Morning, May 17
Our niece Karen called from the farm asking if I was interested in seeing a bald eagle. It took me a while to locate it on the powerline pole.
I drove toward the dairy barn to get a closer look. Larry said it was enjoying breakfast earlier in the morning – a dead groundhog.
I am always amazed that these majestic birds are scavengers.
We keep hearing that there is an eagle (or two) in our area, but this is the first time I saw one this summer.
After getting my fill of pictures I headed home.
This is what our home looked like (right) from where I was watching the eagle.
After getting home, I called Jere, who I thought might be able to see it from their house, but the pole was too low from their vantage point, so he came over to see it as well. He soon told me that it flew away and was on a fence post in a neighbor’s field.
I got back in the car to see it again.
I thought this was a pretty scene.
