Cerwin has picked up our basic weekly groceries for many years – milk, bread, deli items, etc. – because he is on the road and I work out of our home office. I go every 3-5 weeks for staples to keep the freezer and cupboards stocked.
With the virus and our age, it seems wiser to use curbside pickup. So I figured out how to order online.
Since it was our first time doing this, Cerwin asked me to go along to help him figure out where to go for pickup and what to do. I was glad to go along to get out of the house – and pick up was quite easy.
I photographed a few things we saw on our 4.4 mile drive home.
I was glad to see people’s yards other than our own.
Our valley. I have driven this road several times a week for most of my life. Even walked it many times. This scene looked so good because I think this is only the second time I have seen it in the past five weeks. The farm is our family’s homestead – now in the 6th and 7th generations. We live just beyond the farm at the base of the mountain.
Our weeping cherry tree was in full bloom. We planted this in memory of Cerwin’s dad – probably in the spring of 2000, because he died a few months earlier. The building next to our yard was a one-room school house when I was in grade school. I went there in first, second and third grade. It is now a dwelling.
Covid-19 hasn’t effected us too much – except that we stay home most of the time. It was nice to go for a short drive.
Grocery pick-up and/or delivery here is relatively easy, except for attempting to set a date and time — they use the same ‘shoppers’ for both, and the dates are scheduled at least a week out — problem is that the calendar stops after a week. I have been successful only when piggy-backing on a friend’s dates (she works at night, so can schedule when the open the calendar for the next day!). It is nice to get out and see that there is still a world out there, and that it looks somewhat as it should! We are still having a lot of rain, though, and that should not be happening in mid-April — it has created a rather eerie feeling, and a feeling of uncertainty! Thank you for sharing your ride — it looks as if spring has definitely arrived in your area!
Hi Simret, Ata_grandma here. Are you on Word Press? I just joined there, but haven’t posted there yet. I received notices in my e-mail when a couple of people post, so I read them then. PS My name is Gracia McDairmant
Hi, Gracia — yes, I moved to Word Press when Xanga finally collapsed. I don’t post as often as I used to, but I do still post when I have had an opportunity to photograph my favorite places, or when I have otter things to say! My blog, fondly named “My blog” can be found at https://slmret.wordpress.com/. I have seen you on several comments, so have somewhat kept up with you, but would love to add you to my readers. Janet
I have to schedule several days out as well. We are having fairly much rain too – and many days are cool.
It’s a whole new skill, but for now it seems to work! My biggest adjustment has been cooking — I was in the habit of eating dinners out most days! Can’t do that any more!
I am doing more cooking than I did earlier too – and have time to use up some thing that have been in the cupboard for a long time.
You live in such a beautiful area! I’ve had to learn to shop on line too, as, like you, I had never done it before. The store I usually shop at doesn’t deliver, but our Aldi’s does,, and the lady who shopped for me and delivered my groceries to the front porch was a very nice Mennonite woman named Rachel. I’ve only done that once, but will do it again and hope I get to see Rachel again.
Our area is pretty, but I think your area is pretty too. 🙂
