Friday Evening, February 14
After discovering that this restaurant – at Pleasant View Retirement Community – is open to the public, I asked Cerwin if he wanted to go here for our Valentine Supper.
I wasn’t going to make a reservation, then thought I better check. I called the morning of the 14th and did need reservations! I am glad I called. You don’t normally need reservations – but they needed to know how many were coming for their food preparation.
The tables were beautifully decorated and there was a special menu – the only choice of food for the evening.
The private dining room was full with Pleasant View residents and family members. The restaurant was not full – meaning it was a great place to relax and enjoy a quiet Valentine supper.
Cerwin chose Crab Bisque for his appetizer. I chose the shrimp.
The best “Traditional” Shrimp Cocktail I ever had. The shrimp were large and fresh.
We both chose the Mixed Greens Salad. I should have turned the other side of the plate toward the camera, as the cranberries, walnuts, and cucumbers were on that side. There was also feta cheese. I chose ranch dressing (Cerwin chose Thousand Island) over the Balsamic Vinaigrette that was suggested.
Cerwin’s main entrée: Slow Roasted Prime Rib with Au Jus, Chive Mashed Potato and Asparagus.
My Tuscany Chicken, Sundried Tomatoes, Spinach, Asiago Cream and Saffron Risotto Cake was fabulous. I especially liked the Saffron Risotto Potato Cake (under the chicken).
Our Mini Crème Brulee and Raspberry Macaroon was a delicious close to the meal.
It was a perfect way for “old” people to celebrate a relaxing Valentine meal – only three miles from home. When you live as deep in the countryside as we do – driving only three miles to a restaurant is a luxury. 🙂 There are several at five or six miles and a lot more at ten miles or fifteen miles.
We will do that again.
My daughter, Lexi, works there
I think I know her, but did not see her when we were there.
