During the one-and-a-half-hour drive (mostly on the Pennsylvania turnpike) we stopped at this rest stop for a quick lunch.

Sam was doing really well – one week after knee surgery.

We got to see the staples. (This is now a week following our visit, and I expect the staples have been removed.)

Walking, therapy and ice on the knee are part of his daily routine.

Sam and his daughter, Debbie, who was with him for a few days. She and her siblings took turns staying with him during his first days at home.
