Friday, January 3
One of our first stops of the day was at Big Al’s Super Values near Wiscasset.
Hannah, Cerwin, and Diane – in front of the building.
In a few days they would be closing for the winter, so had everything marked down 25%. We each found a few good deals.
The red winter berries along the roads looked pretty with snow as a backdrop.
Heading back to town for lunch.
But first we went by their old house – where they lived when raising their children – and went back the dead end street to see if there have been any changes. It gave me opportunity for a few closer shots of the winter berries.
Several new houses had been built since they moved and the older ones brought back sweet memories of former neighbors. One family spotted us and waved. 🙂
Then it was time to go to Pepper’s Landing for lunch where Diane and Hannah treated us to lunch – for our 2020 birthdays.
There was a cute snowman outside a window near us.
Cerwin said it was his turn to take a picture that included me.
I ordered this “Sun at the Beach” because of the ingredients: orange, lemon, coconut, passion fruit, Sprite, and soda water. It was fabulous. I sipped it slowly, to keep savoring it’s deliciousness.
Diane ordered this huge soft pretzel for our appetizer. We were surprised at its size and were glad there were four people to share it. 🙂
Diane’s Haddock Taco
Hannah’s Grilled Lobster and Cheese Sandwich
Cerwin’s Oyster Stew. It included red skin potatoes. He said it was the best he ever tasted.
My sautéed squash and zucchini and lobster bisque. It was good to taste Maine lobster again.
Pretty street lights on the way to Cynthia’s house.
It was fun to visit with Cynthia. We hadn’t seen her for about 18 months. In this photo Diane is writing down her weekend grocery list. Diane asked Cerwin to figure out what was wrong with Cynthia’s outdoor camera. The monitor would not come on. That was an easy solution. Someone had unplugged it during the holidays. 🙂 The outlet is behind the couch, so nobody noticed.
We enjoyed visiting while Diane got groceries. I loved hearing about some of her travels – in the USA and overseas. Cynthia was a school teacher and her husband was a doctor – not sure it he was an optometrist or another kind of eye doctor and surgeon.
A grandson stopped in to visit before we left (a young man in college). What fun listening to some of his antics. 🙂
