When my sister brings us a plate of cookies that she, their daughters and other family members baked a day or two earlier. š
Cerwin’s first choice this year was raisin-filled – (top, second from right).
The first one removed by me is always one of the iced sugar cookies (with red and green sprinkles).
Thank you, Nancy, Karen, Melissa, Amy and Chelsey and those who helped you make these.
I LOVE Raisin filled cookies! We call them surprise cookies because that’s what my mother called them when she was little. At first she was afraid of them. She thought the raisin she could see where the dough had opened a bit was an eye. My grandmother always boiled the raisins with water, sugar and lemon. I usually make them once a year, but this year I didn’t feel good enough. They take a long time to make.
I used to make them – years ago. I think I cooked the raisins too.
