Monday Evening, December 9
We were able to celebrate several 2019 birthdays since the Maine Myers stayed until Tuesday morning.
Birthdays celebrated: Diane, Nathaniel, Josiah, Hannah, Becky, Biankah, and Lydia.
Diane waited the longest. Her birthday is January 1. 🙂 She had a plan for something to do in Maine, but because of Josiah’s accident at the end of 2018 and then his and Becky’s wedding during the summer, Diane was here several times during 2019. Consequently we didn’t get to Maine – probably the first time since 1986 (33 years) that we didn’t get to Maine at least once – usually twice a year.
The setup at Ichiban made it perfect for this group of ten adults and two children.
Checking out the menu.
I liked the “holder” the restaurant had for Jasmine’s car seat.
Mark’s appetizer: Albacore Tuna Tataki (seared tuna with masago and ponzu sauce).
Diane ordered a bowl of edamame (soybeans in shells) for an appetizer and shared them with everyone.
Everyone ordered from the Hibachi Grill menu and received a broth, a house salad and an appetizer choice of chicken liver, sautéed mushrooms or shrimp flambee.
We told Becky to warn Biancah about the fire at the beginning of grilling our meal, but it still frightened her a bit.
Our appetizers and vegetables.
We enjoyed our flamboyant, young chef.
Onion volcano
Biankah was prepared for a larger fire. 🙂
Jasmine just watched.

Sautéing more vegetables
My entrée – the vegetarian dish. I am not a vegetarian, but I love these vegetables.
We encouraged everyone to get the fried rice – as we think it is tastier than the plain rice. Everyone chose the fried rice so it made quite a pile.
Several are quite good at using chopsticks.
Our rice (for 10) was shaped into a heart.
We noticed that he was doing something special with the spices before adding them to the rice.
I think our chef was pleased that I had a camera.
The two little cuties getting acquainted.
The entrée choices: shrimp, steak, salmon and chicken – along with broccoli and mushrooms.
That was a fun, delicious evening.
Love Biankah’s brown eyes. Before we went to Africa we visited with a missionary nurse who was home on furlough. She held our 3rd child who was only 2 or 3 months old and said to her “You’re so cute, you’re almost as cute as my little African babies.” My feelings were kind of hurt, as of course I thought my baby was the cutest in the whole world. Then we went to Africa and I saw what she meant.
Yes, Biankah has gorgeous eyes – and is quite the cutie.
